We purchased our tickets a day in advanced to insure we could be in the open car. The weather forecast called for rain with a chance of snow.
No worries we were well prepared. All aboard!

We passed several waterfalls.
The locomotive has a steam engine that is coal powered. Sitting in the open car were we getting a lot of ash soot blown back on us. We opted to purchase the trendy coal glasses for a meager sum of $4.
Amazing views.
Approaching Silverton
We made it. :)
With a couple of hours to kill before the train heads back to Durango we decide to check out a few of the gift shops and grab some lunch.

We had lunch at Handlebars Food & Saloon. It was packed, I think most of the passengers from the train were here. Decent food, great ambiance, the roaring fire keeping everyone nice and toasty.
Almost time to head back down the mountain.
What a great trip!
